Kimbap

Cost: $

Serving: 6

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Hi guys, welcome to my first recipe I am sharing on my blog! This is a very simple recipe that is easy to make and packed with flavor and texture. Kimbap is a Korean dish that reminds me of a Japanese sushi roll or a Mexican burrito. Basically made with rice, veggies, a protein and wrapped in a thin piece of something to hold it all together.

I never really tried Korean food until college and Kimbap was one of the first ones I’ve tried. So I am recreating it today:)

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb marinated spicy pork
  • 1 carrot
  • 1/2 bunch spinach
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • Seaweed sheets
  • Pickled radish and buldak

Seasoning

  • Sesame oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Pepper

Instructions:

  • First, I would cook the rice so I can prepare all the other ingredients while it is cooking. 2 cups of rice made me 6 rolls, so you can add more or less depending on how many you want.
  • Next, I beat 2 eggs in a bowl and seasoned it with salt and pepper. Pour it into a big pan(as big as the seaweed sheet)and let it cook for a minute. Set it aside.
  • In the same pan, throw in your bunch of spinach and cook it until soft. Season with salt and pepper and set it aside.
  • Cook your pre marinated spicy pork for about 3 minutes(4 if you like a bit of a char on it) and then set it aside. I got my meat from Hmart, you can substitute this for any protein you want.
  • Cut the carrot in super thin strips(the length of the seaweed sheet). Or julienne it into smaller pieces if you don’t like the crunch.
  • Rice should be done now!
  • Assemble(see pictures below)
  • Cheers!
