Are you wanting to find a little bit of Italy in Chicago? That was the vibes I got when I sat down on their patio seating. Paired with dim lights, a cool summer breeze and a glass of Garden Gimlet, I truly felt like I escaped the city life for a minute. There was so many busy streets right next to the little alleyway but didn’t hear a single car the whole time I was there.
Now onto the food. It came with complimentary bread and butter, (who doesn’t love that?) and I loved the drizzle of honey they added to the butter. Then had some delicious shrimp scampi, I was very impressed with the lemon sauce and the juiciness of the shrimp. For our main dishes, we had the double pork chop, which was very tender with yummy cognac sause and bits of bacon, prunes and rosemary. We got the spicy orecchiette, which had some rapini and espelette pepper(can’t wait to heat this up for lunch). On the side, we also had their mushroom casserole, which was a super large portion and extremely rice flavor. And lastly, we had to get the sticky date cake, which the waiter said he would recommend above all, and I agree. The brown butter ice cream was soft, with bits of date crumble, a sweet toffee sauce on top of a moist cake.
I would definitely come back just for the vibes alone, but also to check out their happy hour.
Cheers!
